4.Reinforcing the business case for recruiting
5.Utilizing social networks
6.Utilizing video
7.Upgrading succession planning

13.Recruiting globally

We are starting to see businesses engaging in more progressive and innovative practices, such as utilising multimedia, driven by the necessity to keep up with the market at large, which has and continues to rapidly embrace new technology and expect a more positive and engaging job seeking experience. Six Figures provides advertisers with the platform to upload logos, images and videos and are finding that some of our early adopters are using these technologies to give their business and jobs the competitive edge.

The USA tend to be ahead of Australia in this area as we are traditionally late adopters and it will be interesting to see the pace at which we move with these trends that John has predicted for 2009. I personally think they sound exciting and hope to see businesses running with them.

Coming from the US 2 years ago, I predicted that the only way AU would change to more innovative strategies would be if a recession hit. Sorry to say the recession is here – but will Aussie media innovate? None of the big boards sell a targeted email list I can buy by job title, geography, skills, etc. I can get this from ZDnet and a few other niche media players. This is common practice in the US – I only want to talk to the candidates that fit my client’s requirements.
